Smile are Pasadean, Deer Park, La Porte any good?

Hello, I am thinking about buying a home in the Houston area. Can anyone suggest an area where it is affordable, not a bad place to live, and not too far out from Houston either? I was thinking about Deer Park. Any feedback.
Thank You,

I know people that live in all those areas and really like it. Homes are very affordable. Clear Lake is another nice area.

Default pasadena

Hi, I kinda hop around living btwn. n. ca (citrus hts./sacto. area), the gr8ter houston area and s. germany...for now am thoroughly enjoying pasadena. N. Pasadena reminds me a lot of what San Jose was before it became a trendy place to live. I'm originally from n. san jose and saw a lot of potential in the area, friendly ppl. and of course the great prices lured me. The distance of pasadena to downtown appealed to me as well and the traffic isn't as aggravating as the I-10 traffic from katy to downtown (also have homes in katy and the smith point area). S. Pasadena reminds me of katy since it's cookie cutter designed w/ housing looking similar and keep in mind that many of the s. pasadena homes are in a flood zone. The n. pasadena homes are the older homes and u can find renovated ones as I did since I like craftsmanship and newer homes lack that these days...+ as to the diversity differences of pasadena that may be of interest to you, the ethnic breakdown is as follows: mexicans in n. pasadena where the older homes are and caucasians in s. pasadena. Those in ITL (in the loop folks closer to downtown stereotype it as stink-a-dena and it has some notoriety because of what a place is generally labeled due to a high minority pop. and the refineries. Ironically, due to the westward winds throughout most of the yr., houston itself has higher pollution levels). If you have any ?'s about anything, feel free to email me,tamarah, @ warpedhybrid232@yahoo.com enjoy house hunting and houston. I'm glad I moved here when I am here =)

Pearland is also a nice area. Deer Park, Pasadena and Laporte are closer to the Houston Ship Channel and the refineries. There are some nice neighborhoods there though.

I always thought Deer Park was the nicest of those 3, but sometimes they have explosions at those refineries and who knows what it puts in the air.

The air quality in all of those neighborhoods is the big silent gorilla standing in the corner of any discussion. Don't live there for long and don't live there if anyone in your family has respiratory weakness of any kind.
