Those areas are fine for singles. But lookup sex offenders in the 77546 zipcode. The majority of them are in Heritage Park, Wedgewood Village and Forest Bend. We used to live in one of the suburbs I just listed and moved because of the sex offenders. Many of the sex offenders were older white men who acted out on children under the age of 10. That said, Friendswood proper and Friendswood ISD totally lack diversity, and that is a disappointment. Friendswood proper can have alot of "old money" and cliques. But if you're a family with small kids, it's hard to feel comfortable buying a home in a neighborhood where there are so many sex offenders listed. Sure, there could be just as many sicko's in the richer neighborhoods that haven't been caught....but if all you have to go by is what's listed on the sex offender registry, it seems foolish to most parents to pick a neighborhood that has a high percentage.

I'm looking at the DPS website text & map for this sex offender thing, and I see about the same # in 77546 as each of the Clear Lake Houston & Webster zips.

I would recommend the area off of 528 headed towards Alvin...a lot of parks, close to sporting fields, etc. I would also recommend Friendswood Community Church!!!! Friendswood Lakes, Falcon Ridge and Mission Estates are good neighborhoods with young children. All feed into FISD. Due to the proximity of schools, no registered sex offenders in Mission Estates. How much are you wanting to spend? Primrose, in my opinion, is the best preschool and can be hard to get into depending on the number of children you have and their ages. When are you looking to move? We moved to Friendswood a year ago and love it here. I am Hispanic and havent had any racial issues, nor have my children. We have met a lot of wonderful people and have had no trouble making new friends.

TStone - good description of Forest Bend. Friendswood is a very nice community and I would have no reservations about moving there whatsoever. I would choose Friendswood any day over Pearland, which is a very popular area.

Forest Bend has some ok homes near Blackhawk. But once you get off that front, for the most part you see lots of overgrown lawns, junky/immobile cars in driveways + cars lining the streets, drug deals taking place, lots of 1000 sq ft homes in disrepair. There are certain property management companies working in conjunction with the slumlords who own those homes, to extort what they can and keep those people pinned down. It's a straight-up rough, South-side suburban neighborhood, and not that long ago I spent more time over there than I'd like to admit. (The old trees are nice there, though.)

I suppose if you could tolerate your neighbor calling the cops on you when you mow the grass, or your other neighbor's 17 yr old daughter running trains in & out of her window in broad daylight, and had $75,000 in your back pocket, you could buy a fixer-upper to live in. Be sure to arm yourself with a Glock in case those fighter dogs get loose. That's probably the most dangerous thing out there.

The only positive thing about Forest Bend is a Robin Hood effect, meaning all those kids go to the higher-ranked schools. Nothing wrong with that.

Honestly, I'd rather pay for a nice apartment in a nicer area than live in Forest Bend if that was the only thing in my price point.
