What the heck is this Go Texan day?
When my husband first told me his office was celebrating Go Texan day, I thought he was kidding. Then I heard the kids' school wanted them to dress up in boots and hats and all that.
Now I hear actual horse riders and wagons will be riding down city streets today? What do they do about all the traffic around them?
Husband says he should be able to see them ride right past his office on Post Oak today...now I'm jealous.
This whole thing is so fascinating to a yankee like me.

It's about the Rodeo, and celebrating Texas Heritage and Houston Pride.
You should go check out Memorial Park tonight. Chuck Wagons and Cowboys everywhere.
Yes, they cause some traffic slow-ups, and road apples will be found around the area......but no one seems to care.

Hmm...that would be a great photography opportunity! Is it crowded? Is there easy parking and access?

I dunno about parking. It's probably limited. We just used to ride our bikes over there when I was a kid.

Yes, if you've never seen it, go check it out! It's bizarre to see those cowboys and wagons rolling into town of the nation's 4th largest city... gotta love that!
I guess I need to go buy my kid some boots, because he doesn't have any western clothes to wear to school that day...

It is a sight to see...esp when they come down I10. The parade is tomorrow morning and you can see them all riding into downtown from the park. Fun!

On the noon news you'll see 'em all heading down the freeways. It's great! Another exciting part of our heritage, we love Rodeo time!

like a parade of clowns? in other cities real circus acts to rumbling NASCAR cars parade their streets. I don't think it matters how large their cities are. they just get way better parades

I would debate calling them cowboys...but its the thought and tradition that counts. It is alot of fun to watch and it looks like there might actually be decent weather for it this year. The traditiona has always been cold and rainy. It is supposed to be cooler tomorrow...guess we will see.
