Eh- I wouldn't say any large US city is 'poor friendly.'

Houston is definitely middle class friendly though-- no doubt about it.

I enjoy taking on the 45/59 interchange near downtown in the mornings. Keeps me on my GD toes!

The thread title asks to name the one single thing we like most..

If I may,I open the thread to the 3 best things...

1) Weather

2) Home prices

3) Sea access...

ROTF!

I love the people within Houston. In general, they're pretty dynamic. They can make really urban areas feel very small town. Even the feared soccer moms within the city diversify their time between kids, personal fitness time and charities.

The best examples of Houston's character was after the hurricane when you saw young and old, wealthy and poor getting out together and clearing major roads, and cutting trees out of neighbor's houses. BBQs occured on the streets. No one waited around to have things "taken care" of for them...they went out and took care of it themselves. No whinners. And no looting occured. That in itself was amazing and spoke a lot about the community as a whole.

We did not agree in the other thread, we probably do but for a misunderstanding. But what you say here is correct and something to be proud of for all of us.

The thing that struck me was all the ads I read in places like Craigslist where Ranchers well inland were offering FREE board for Horses so we could get them away from the coast before the storm. That goes beyond animal lovers helping animal lovers. That was Texans helping South Texans.

But dont anyone mention when we took in the Katrina freeloaders........oops sorry I man refugees because that is a sore spot but all intentions were good just the same.

Nine months of near perfect weather isn't enough for some people.

I guess the three months of summer would be the ones that aren't perfect?

I love the summer. I cant wait for it to be hot again. But I will take these winter months of beautiful skies, cool breezes and lounging by the pool every afternoon until it gets here.
