Thinking of moving to Ft Worth or suburbs of Houston
We are thinking of moving because of the so cold weather here in Indiana. We are in our 60's and have been thinking Ft. Worth or a Houston suburb on the west side. Although, gotta think about hurricanes in the Houston areas. Can some one tell us where are the safest towns in those areas, rentals, prices on homes? Have to do lot of research cause we are not able to travel to these places at this time. (the economy of course )

Not to be biased But..
Take the Houston suburb over Fort Worth. Katy would be great. The weather is warmer here in the winter. Its actually pretty cold in Fort Worth in the winter.
The houston suburbs will be very green and full of trees and forests, The Fort worth area is not as pretty.
There is more to do in the Houston. Just a thought. I considered Fort Worth or Katy a year ago and chose Katy/West Houston/Sugar Land area hands down...

Houston you can pretty much play golf year round. Those ice storms in DFW slow you down a little.

move to northwest fort worth.. nice clean town..low crime compared to houston and very friendly people.. so nice and lots of nice trees.. weather gets cold but not for long.. its texas. nothing compared to Indy
There is some very nice acreage communities in the western side that are new homes with and acre or so of land. Just 15-20 minutes to downtown too...

In Houston you'll have a hurricane risk, though the west side doesn't see storm surge (the most dangerous part of a hurricane). So not that big a deal really.
In Fort Worth you'll have tornadoes and tornado warnings a lot. One destroyed a downtown skyscraper there several years ago.
In Houston you'll have much milder winters, and be driving distance to a beach, if that matters to you. I don't know how far out from town you want to be, but if you don't need to drive into the city for work you might look at Fulshear, Richmond, and nearby areas.

Houston is a great city with lots of opportunity. The weather is great here, I don't care what anybody says. So it's a little humid and hot in the summer, but mostly we have spring like weather, and just a few cold fronts. It's really inexpensive to live here compared to the rest of the country. Southwest Houston is a great area and so is Clear Lake City, also north Houston is a great area and Sugarland. Traffic is'nt that bad, you just have to avoid the traffic times.
