my vehicle is a 2007, weights 3300 lbs. and cost $76 to register. State inspection was $35. Mine were both due this month so prices are fresh in my mind.

I paid around $180 for the tags & registration. Approx 40 for the inspection before that. You have to get the TX tags before you go to the DPS to change your out of state DL for a TX one... I wasted 1 day at the DPS this summer cause the lady at the enquiry counter specifically told me I need not worry about the registration!

Just as often as you do in Shiner, Luling, or Cut And Shoot - it's governed by state law and it's required every year.

I thought this might help fellow newcomers from what I gather at the Tax County office by my place. What you need to do first:

1) obtain a vehicle inspection (bring in VI - 30A which is the inspection certificate)
2) contact your insurance to meet TX standards (30/60/25) or get your vehicle insured
3) complete form 130-U.

Then, after your vehicle is registered will you go change your out of state DL to TX.

BTW- anyone with SRS lights worrying about inspections, you should pass because I did. The guy said as long as it's not a check engine light that is on.
