Default Moving to Houston, need help with finding apartments

Hi all, I'll be moving to Houston to start a new job at the med center. I am looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for my family in the $600-800/month range. I have couple questions that I hope people here can help with.

1. Which area of Houston I should probably avoid when looking for apartments. By that I mean safety wise. I know there's niches here and there, but as whole which area are not good?

2. What's the best way to look for apartments without going to Houston first? I see a lot of apartment locator service online but I am not sure if they are trustworthy or not. And many apartments don't really have a website I can check out.

3. I hope to find a day care for my son, one of those mom's day out program, i know there are many, but anyone knows a particular good one?

Thank you!

St Pauls, First Presbyterian, St Lukes on Westheimer, St Marks all have good Moms day out. But you may have missed the deadline for applying for next year.
Apartment locators are fine.

The great thing about Houston is there are free apartment locators everywhere. They helped me find my apt. when I moved here. I told them the price type of area and they found exactly what I was looking for and saved me time from driving apt. to apt.
