First of all I want to say this website rocks-just full of good people and great information.
I am transferring to LaPorte and the wife will be attending the Pharmacy college downtown. We are looking at a nice 4/2 with an acre in Pearland near the CloverField Airport. We have a 3 yr old and a 1 year old. They will attend Rustic Oak Elementary.
We are trying to keep a rural lifestyle as much as possible. Her commute should be in the 30 minute timeframe? But what will be the timeframe to LaPorte-the plant is off the 225. I am guesstimating the 45 minute range. I will be leaving for work at 6am returning at about the 5 pm range.
How much will the tolls be to LaPorte back and forth to Pearland be?
We are transferring from the Phoenix area.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Isnt there a way to cut thru...possibly take 35 to Almeda Jenoa over into Pasadena or Dixie Farm. I know all the names change when you get into Pasadena but some of those streets goes thru over to 225

The tollway will be the fastest way out there. Tolls will be about $5/day, but you can skip that with the streets mentioned above (and the traffic lights). The commute from Pearland to La Porte should be fairly easy. The east side of town has the lightest traffic in the metro. Downtown to Pearland on 288 will be a pain coming home in the afternoon, though.

You could ride the feeder of BW-8 all the way to 225 and have no tolls if you so desire - but you'd have to stop at red lights. Clover Field is right off of hwy. 35 so personally, I would take that to BW8 and you'd be at 225 in no time at all. Easy commute and if you are adverse to tolls - there is always the feeder.

Mike I would suggest not doing that even for fun. If you took the free-way down Beltway 8 it would take you atleast 30 mins from Pearland to 225 but in the evening expect 1hr. And there's only one toll booth from I-45 to 225 and it costs 1.25 if you stop and pay. I know because I made that drive everyday for 4yrs. But I went past 225 and over the bridge.

I would suggest to get the easy tag as it saves money to go through the tolls and it's no stopping. I'm guessing you'll work at one of the many plants off 225. So it will probably take you anywhere from 25-35 mins to get to work. But if you're going through I-45 and not getting onto it then you will be just fine even when you get off at 5pm. The only trouble spot you will have is getting on the Beltway from 225 in the evening. There's no freeway to freeway ramp. And you will curse the day you ever had to go that way because Shell has workers that get off at that time and the cops close down a lane on the feeder for them. And it backs up easy and quick.

Are you working off Battleground Rd? And what plant if you don't mind. I've been in most of them and have a bro that works in one.

Right - I would definitely take 35 to the BW8 to 225. Only suggested the feeder because some people would rather wait in traffic at lights, etc. than pay a toll.
Just letting him know it is possible.

There' a toll booth in Pasadena, I'm not sure of the intersection but it's not to far from Fairmont...a couple of miles maybe.

Even after you go thru the toll booth, you will also have to pay again when you exit the Beltway at 225.

And it may cost as much as 4 to 5 dollars a day.

I'm pretty sure there is no toll both at the 225 exit going north on the beltway. I drove this every day for awhile, but haven't been on it in a few months. It was an open exit to a traffic light before you got on 225. He'll have to pay to get on @ Telephone Road, and again after Hwy 3. The next booth is after the giant bridge.

There is a toll booth - if coming from I-45 just after the Genoa-Red Bluff exit. There is not a Toll Booth when you exit at 225. If you stay on the BW, the next toll booth is the one over the ship channel bridge just before I-10.
