I am looking for a duplex/fourplex/apt garage/etc within the inner loop, available around end of May-June. I have looked on Craigslist, etc. but most properties are available now. I found one site that specializes in renovating properties and renting them out. They had several properties that were coming available in a few weeks, rather than being available now. Any suggestions on reality sites or property agencies that have upcoming listings? Any other suggestions on finding a place would be great! I am relocating to the area mid-May.

I just read a post that suggested HAR. Any others as beneficial? Looking to rent, perhaps lease. Not yet ready to buy.

You are on the right track with Craigslist and perhaps HAR and the Houston Press. Most tenants are only required to give 30-days notice, so there isn't much you can do in advance of that.

For that kind of thing, you have a small window of opportunity to look. You really can't look too far in advance. Individual owners won't hold them for very long, so looking this far in advance isn't going to be too terribly helpful. There is a management company that handles a lot of the smaller complexes in Montrose, I think it is creative management but I am not 100% sure.

I'm a big believer in the come-down and drive-around method myself. Barring that, you can also try The Greensheet.
