Default Suggestions for rentals

Does anyone have suggestions for where a private owner should list a rental property? Craigslist seems to be overloaded with realtors and apartment listings. Thanks!

yea, I have that part done already. Not doing much for me. Was wondering if there were any other suggestions or do I just relax and be patient. Been listed with realtor for about 30 days now.

Lower the price and it will be rented. Otherwise leave it void and lower the price weeks/months later.

There's plenty of rental property out there. An idiot landlord refused to lower his monthly price to me by $100 a month. 2 months later the dumb ******* rang me back saying he'd accept it, sorry bud I found somewhere nicer in a better location. 4 months later it's still sat on HAR and he's got it up at $400 less than I was prepared to pay.

I think you have been given good advise about listing your property. I know of a acquaintance who did it herself by just placing a sign. She did list in the criagilist but was not pleased with the response. We just leased a property and couldn't get the sign up fast enough before receiving calls and renting it out. Do you mind revealing what part of the city or the MLS for the rental unit?

Would have to agree with both of these... Unlike the housing market in most areas the rental market is very strong right now, as people can't get the loans they were getting just a year ago. These people aren't going to live in a van behind Walmart so they are turning to the leasing market in droves.

If you have been on HAR for 30 days without a lease you need to lower the price. Th market is talking to you; better to listen now rather than later after more monetary damages are done.

Default Your Rental

I will be in town looking for a rental next week....which rental is yours on HAR??

The reason I am not looking at Craigslist is that I heard about a lot of scamming going on with rentals there.

Craigslist is unmonitored for the most part. There is a system in place for users to file complaints about bad listings (profanity, inappropriate listings, etc.), but it does nothing as far as fraud or identity confirmation is concerned. There is basically only an e-mail address (which can easily be forged or disposed of later) to identify the poster.

With HAR or even better, an actual Realtor, there is more contact information/validation required in order to list.

Of course, most posts on Craigslist are legitimate, but why take the chance for something like an apartment/rental house -- when you could lose your deposit and/or be kicked out for any number of reasons? (yes, this does happen once in a while)

Just a few things to think about.
