Default Coming to Houston for a week

Hey guys, I'm going to be swinging by Houston for a week, and I'll mostly be in the downtown area. I'm looking for some places to eat so I don't have to walk around searching, wondering if this place is good or not. Any recommendations? Preferably places without thick meat (aka steak) because I can't eat anything like that due to a medical condition. Also, is there a movie theater in the general area? It seems like the ones I've seen are a little out of the way. Finally, are there any kind of clubs for the younger crowd that I could go to at night? Thanks in advance.

Also, is there a bus or something that goes to the Galleria mall from the downtown area?

There is a movie theatre in Bayou place that is a $5 cab ride or a walk from anywhere downtown. Houston has as many restaurants as any city in the US. No its not all steak and BBQ, very international city so just decide what you want and its out there...like New York. Downtown near the rail and in Midtown are club areas.

Well, every city has a lot of restaurants, but I was hoping to find out what the best ones are since I'm not going to be there long enough to try them all out. I didn't mean to suggest that it was all steak either; just stating that I couldn't eat that. Thanks for the answers.

I suggest Mia Bella on Main, Azuma for Sushi and take a short cab to W. Dallas for great food at either Nino's or Vincents.

Take a taxi to Rice Village. Lots of great restaurants and cafes there. Also a lot of great bars there with a young crowd.

I think Edwards Greenway Plaza 24 is the closest major venue to town. For indie, there's the Angelika right in the middle of town.

To get to the Galleria: Take either the 81 or 82 Westheimer from downtown. You can view and print a schedule/route map here.

For your clubbing, Club Roxy is pretty popular with the younger crowd. It's 18+ and right there in the Galleria area.

Have a blast here in H-town! It's good that you are planning ahead.

Bayou Place (downtown) has a theatre. McCormick and Schmicks downtown has good seafood. New Mexican restaurant Guadalajara, House of Blues - for entertainment (food is so-so), Cork Wine Bar, Mia Bella, Tafia, Tacos-A-Go-Go, Irmas, The Grove, Cielo, Baba Yega (Montrose area), Sorrento, El Patio, Maria Selma -- all of these are either Downtown or very near downtown. There are great restaurants all over town but I only suggested a few near where you are staying.

One of my favorite restaurants where you can always count on a good meal is Houston's Restaurant close to the Galleria.
