How many of you take financial aid to send your kids to college? If they got into Havard, are they not worthy because they cant afford it?
Fort Bend is like a "better college", and these low-income apartments will be the "financial aid" to get in them.

Not a good comparison and another post using bad logic.
Fort Bend has just as many problems as many other counties in the area right now anyway.
I must ask, are you working for the developer? It just seems odd that your first and only posts in two different forums are in the threads about this development.

we must all earn our place in this world/community...teach a man to fish... ... even scholarships are earned. most living in this community have earned our place thru years n years of hard n smart work. there is entirely to much -gimme- going on in this country/world. you must earn everything otherwise it is not valued. what does govt subsided housing teach low income renters? nothing beneficial. maybe they become envious and in despair want to commit crimes. that may explain in part why crime increases when govt subsidized apartments move in proximity.

Moderation Please
First - I have been reading these posts with horror at the personal attacks. That's not what forums are for people!
Secondly - I grew up in the Sharpstown/West Houston area when it was a great place to live. The next thing we knew apartment complexes started going up everywhere. The city's infrastructure, schools and businesses could not support the influx of people. The West Bellfort corridor between Gessner and Chimney Rock is now one of the highest crime areas in Houston.
Thirdly - In the past 2 years I have watched 5 apartment complexes appear within a 1 mile radius of Kempner High School. Now the schools are overcrowded and it is stretching the resources of the utilities, roads, and police. I wouldn't have a problem with the Low Income Housing if the other apartment complexes were not also in the area. You can't squeeze a lot of people into one small area without expecting an increase in conflicts and criminal activity.
Moderation is the key. A complex or two is fine but 6 is way too many.

I also find it funny that half of the posters on this blog joined April 2009 with their only posts about this development. Why arent they accused of being the developer? Because they oppose the development?

They probably googled "Goldshire" and found the posts. And it's not a blog, it's a forum.
I don't think anyone would bother joining and posting for the first time unless they had strong feelings about the development. If they are homeowners in the area, it's no surprise they would have strong feelings against it -- they have a stake in it being that they own nearby property.
So what's your reason to go out of your way to be on the "for" side here? I only have to assume you must be in on it, otherwise why waste your time when you're not a regular participant here? What's your stake in this development?

Sugarland might be diverse, but you can still experience racism. It happened to me last week.
