Missouri City - Sedona Creek
My fiance' and I visited a home for sale on saturday in Missouri City. The house is located near the Fort Bend Tollway in the Sedona Creek subdivision.
1. We were wondering if this is a good area and if it is a good blend (racially and age wise).
2. We are both young professionals age 31 and 33 (our first home) and I work off the 610 loop in galleria and he works off richmond rd near the beltway. Will this be a good commute for both of us?
3. The house is about $180k and our combined annual salary is the low $100s, no consumer debt, no car loans. Is this good price range for us as we do not want to be house poor and we know the bank has preapproved of us for waaaay more than we need?
4. Although we don't have kids currently we were also wondering if the schools were good (lake olympia, palmer, & elkins) is what I think the home is zoned to. Are these good schools?
We plan to drive by there at night to get a feel of the area (other than seeing it in the daytime).
Any help you can give is appreciated!

Hi there! I thought Sedona Lakes wasn't even built yet. The Sedona Lakes I see on my way to Pearland from Missouri City is off the 288 and says its "coming soon." That Sedona Lakes is brand new and it is not in Missouri City. I'm thinking it's more Pearland. The schools would most likely be in Alvin ISD, definitely not Fort Bend (Lake Olympia, Elkins are quite far). If you're thinking of "good" schools for the future I would go with Pearland or really look into Lake Olympia area (going towards Sugar Land).

I am referring to the Sedona Creek that is a subdivision near Olympia Estates (near the fort bend tollway).
It is a KB home and my realtor has concerns about the house because of that.

Hi there!
Congrats to you two on being debt free! That's a feat in this day and age.
I have never seen this Sedona Creek and I travel down the 6 by the Tollway frequently. I've seen the signs for Olympia Estates, but not Sedona. I would definitely check out the area at night, weekdays and weekends. And KB Homes I've heard more negative things about, than positive. I really wish I had more info for you, but I do not know anything about Sedona. As far as schools, your realtor should help you with that. I do know Hightower would be the high school that would be zoned to that area (if it's by Vicksburg/FB Tollway).
Good luck!

Sedona Creek is a nice neighborhood. It's pretty racially mixed. I bought a new KB home over there in Nov. 2002, for the first 6-8 months I had nothing but repair after repair done. The main problem was the upstairs floor squeaking and the foundation cracking. Also, there was the loud plumbing in the hall bath. However they fixed EVERYTHING. The homeowner's association sucks, they make alot of promises for upgrades and such, but I never saw anything but a gazebo put up. I sold my house in 2007 and moved to Sienna Plantation.
*The zoned schools are Palmer, Lake Olympia, and Elkins, not Hightower

KB does not have a good reputation. I would listen to your Realtor.
