Default Seabrook Neighborhoods

My husband and I are seriously considering a move from central Houston to Seabrook (we've looked all around Clear Lake and are leaning towards Seabrook). We're looking for a family-friendly community, good schools, the usual stuff... and ideally we'd love a neighborhood where people actually get together and do stuff.

We've looked in Seabrook Island, Lakepointe Forest, and Lake Cove subdivisions. Anybody know anything about these areas specifically? Or others I should look into? We're looking to spend anywhere from $300-$600K.

And any thoughts about Bay vs. White elementary?

Thanks for any insight!

I live on Seabrook Island. Pretty nice little community...it is what you make it.
We are in the Clear Creek Independent school district. I have no knowledge as to which of the schools are better...my kids are way past that stage

Clear Creek ISD

Also a Seabrook Half-Islander (don't actually live on the island). It's a nice subdivison... home prices are around 200k and up. I believe they are all (or mostly all) built by Brighton Homes. They are still doing new construction. People are friendly, lots of families. There is a nice park, a community swiming pool and a boat launch for Taylor Lake. The HOA gets on my nerves sometimes (but whose doesn't?)... sending me letters about a dozen mulch bags neatly stacked by the boy scouts on the side of my house... but the neighborhood is kept clean and in nice shape.

As for Schools, Seabrook Island is zoned to White Elementary. I've heard people refer to the area west of Highway 146 as "new Seabrook", and the area east of 146 as "old Seabrook". East of 146 (old Seabrook) got hit the hardest by Ike. Bay Elementary is zoned to Old Seabrook, with White zoned to New Seabrook and El Lago. We really like Ed White. It recieved an exemplary (highest) rating in 2006 and 2007, and recognized (2nd highest) in 2008. Bay Elementary recieved recognized in 2006 and 2007, and bumped up to exemplary in 2008. For what it's worth, greatschools.com has Ed White rated at 9/10 and Bay at 8/10. All of Seabrook is zoned to Clear Lake HS... which most consider to be the best HS in Clear Creek ISD. Clear Lake HS is also rated in the top 10-15 of HS in the Houston area.

Thanks LIH....I knew you could chime in on the school info.
Homes built on this end are MasterPiece, Tucanny, Charles Martin, Dan Wallrath, Harbour Classics and Stonebridge(which is also Charles Martin). Might be one or two more, but that is brunt of them.

LOL...I hear you are not alone LIH in getting the letter re the Boy Scout bags of mulch.

Stay away from Wallrath homes.. They are WAY over priced for what you get..

So are the homes (and shops/restaurants) on Toddville Road still in shambles from Ike?It's been about 3 months since I explored out there.

A lot has been cleared out...but there is still a lot that still needs to be done. Many of those poor people are still living in motorhomes or tents...still awaiting ins. $.
There are one or two homes that were moved from one side of the street to the other that are still sitting there.
Some of the restaurants and shops have opened and the Boardwalk advertises it is in full swing, but many of the kids rides are still closed down.

I might add, they are still clearing out the waterways of all the sunken boats. Just in the last 2 weeks or so, a huge push to clear out the channels.

That is a da*n shame. Those insurance companies ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Htownfluffy: Are you looking to be on the water? Meaning lake or canal(lagoon).
