My husband needs to be near the Medical Center area and I work in The Woodlands. Our family is in Sugarland, Stafford and Katy. Any ideas on where would be a good place to land?

We just moved here from Dallas sold our home and willing to live in an aprtment for a few years as we get a good lay of the land. Informed opinions are welcomed!

Kids? Budget? Lifestyle?

At first glance, the heights/garden oaks/oak forest would be the area I'd look in. Maybe montrose/midtown...?

Definitely agree. Heights if your budget is larger, then garden oaks and then oak forest, also timbergrove (west of heights).

Timbergrove is along tc jester between ten and 610, inside the loop. Lots of nice apartments for rent in that area with great walking trails and close shopping. It's a little cheaper without the heights price tag/attitude.

i would think i-10 west and beltway area (spring branch) would be a good middle area.... you can take beltway around to 45 north to woodlands (about 45 minute drive)...your husband can take beltway around south to 288 (20-30 minutes).....and then you'll be out west already to go to katy on i-10....or take hwy 6 down to sugarland.....

If her husband needs to be "near" the medical center, spring branch isn't even close and he'd have to deal with pearland, sugarland AND Katy inbound traffic.

Family you'll visit on weekends is immaterial as long as they don't live in Livingston or something

Well, we're assuming their work schedule is normal business hours (8-5 or 9-5)...i still think I-10/beltway is a good middle area for them distance wise

I suggest midtown around the vicinity of 288/59 interchange, or around the Heights area it is close to places and within distance to the Medical Center. The drive to the Woodlands isn't bad going opposite directions during rush hour. It is a long commute if you pick places around your family, or your workplace.

I agree with the comment that it's not that easy to get from Heights directly south... you'd probably end up scooting east to the freeways. I'd keep that in mind as you look. West, and you have to deal with the west loop, which can get backed up all afternoon. You can always take Studemont/Montrose all the way but that can take a while.

You should both test routes of course before you buy.

I-10 west to 59 south and then on 288 is how I would get to the med center from heights
