Lightbulb Moving to fresno, Tx please advise

Hello,

My family is moving to Fresno, Tx and will be working in Ellington Field on very short notice for a job. I need advice on an elementary school for our 1st grader in the Fresno county area. How's the crime in the area. My family is moving in the teal Run Meadow Subdivision. How's the traffic fron Fresno to Ellington Field? We plan on moving later once we learn the area. What are some nice areas to rent or buy homes or townhomes near Ellington Field Hwy 45? Thanks again everyone for your help.

I personally do not like Fresno. When I first moved to Houston, I had looked at homes in there as well because I was not from Houston, did not know what area was good, bad, etc.. Once I actually went there, saw some houses and got a feel for the area, I scratched it off my list. I know they did build some new schools and I can't comment on the schools there. If you are going to work at Ellington on 45, I would look into the Clear Lake/Friendswood areas. They cost more than Fresno however. This again is just my opinion on Fresno, and on Teal Run, but I saw too many old cars in the street, too many bicycles just laying in yards, too many un-manicured yards, etc..for my taste. I didn't get a good pride of ownership feel there from some of the residents just by driving around.

I actually LIVE in Teal Run and I like it. I have lived here for 4 years and it's nice and quite here. The poster above looks like they posted when everyone was trying to get their homes back up to par after Hurricane Ike hit; so of course, it's going to look that way, but it's not that way everyday (Homeowner Association will see to that). If you move here, I would suggest the Tealbriar subdivision for it's a lot quieter than the other side of Teal Run. It is less kids on this side and it's so quiet you can almost hear a pin drop. As for the schools, I personally don't care for the school (Or texas schools in general for that matter for I think they are slow and behind than other states).

That is a heck of a commute....why on earth Fresno and not Clear Lake/Pearland/Pasadena/Friendswood. ?
