Question moving to Northeast hosuton

Hi, I'm moving down to Houston to work at a school off of Roxella or Aldine Westerfield Rd, it's still to be decided. I know nothing about Houston and was told that a good area to move to would be Houston Heights. The rents there can be quite pricey, I've seen. I was also told that Humble would be good. Can anyone who knows this area please assist me? I have kids so I also want an area that has decent schools and I don't want a long commute in. Thanks.

Are you looking for a house or apartment? What is your budget? This information would help. In general, I would recommend the Atascocita/Summerwood/Fall Creek area (all in Humble area). Your commute would be pretty short and the schools in that general area are quite good (better than HISD schools in the Heights IMO).

I would like to rent a 3 bedroom house. I have budgeted for between $900 and $1100 in rent alone, as I have no idea about the rents there. How is the traffic in that area in the morning? Are these areas you mentioned close to parks, restaurants, etc?
Also, what is the typical winter temp like in Houston? I am coming from a northern border state and am curious to know. Thanks again. Cheers.

Look in Atascocita, it will have everything you want in your price range. Your commute will be about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. As for winter weather, we varely rarely need coats. Just good stout jackets or a warm sweater most of the time.

You might also look towards Spring, but the area I mentioned has better schools IMO.
