Need info on League City.
Hi, Me and my wife are getting transferred from the Port Arthur Area to Houston Area. She will now be stationed in Texas City (she is in the Coast Guard). I am from the Spring Area and have not really spent alot of time in that part of town. We had found a house in League City Township (old downtown league city) off of main street.
My question is this. What is the area like? We liked the house and fit our needs. Just concerned about the area.

That area is fine. The majority of League City is fine, safe and provides a good quality of life.

Traffic on 518 can get a little dicey during the rush and there is a lot of construction along that stretch of 45. Other than that, I don't think there's much to be concerned about, not that I'd go loading the car full of valuables and leaving it unlocked in the driveway. I don't know if I'd want to ride out a hurricane there, not a big one anyway.

I know the traffic right at 518 and hwy 3 can be pretty nasty and the work on 45 is awful to travel. Luckily she will be going the opposite direction as traffic. South in the morning and north in the evening. Thanks for the reply. I hope to get some more feeedback too.

My sister was in a rental in your area for a couple of years and loved it. Walking distance to the park, the pool and a 9 min commute to her office on Nasa Rd. 1.

We are actually moving to Kemah this weekend right dead smack on the border line of League City. Kemah is nothing to brag about but League City is pretty nice. Nearly all the light poles in town have a sign bragging that League City is among the top 100 small town best cities to live.
I have already scoped out several very small cafes and seafood huts. Upon talking to locals, Jo Lees Seafood on FM 2094 got 3 mentions as just awesome! There are a couple Italian Bistros on 2094 too as well as quite a few eateries. Parks appear to be lacking as we are still searching a good park to let the doggies run.
Housing is of newer stock but I heard there is an older area too. Fishing galore. Locals we spoke to have nothing bad to say about it. Luckily I dont have to deal with 518. I dont know how bad it gets because I never drove it during rush hour.
That's all I can add so far.

There is a Web site that advertises itself as an online magazine. Seems fairly new but has a lot of info about the Bay Area if you are interested HOME
