Guess it depends upon where you live - we had more water with Saturday's rain than we did with Ike. A friend from church said they got water in their house in Oakbrook.... Another friend in League City got an automated phone call from the city telling him not to leave his home because roads were impassable.

Distance from Seabrook to Downtown Houston is maybe 60 miles? It may be alittle less.
I think it is significantly less than 60 miles. It is about 20-22 to Clear Lake City Blvd. and what another 8-10 to Seabrook from there?

but 60-something rountrip Gosh it is so hard to believe that those people along Red Bluff and Kirby got water from all this rain. I figured if they got through Ike (living so close to rising water) that surely they would've made it through the weekend rains. Just goes to show you that if you get enough rain, coming down in the right amount of time - nobody is 100% safe from it.

Nope, no storm surge on the north side, just 10+ inches of rain all at once. It has happened before. The fact that alot of the drainage system was clogged with Ike debris I'm sure did not help.
