I know there is no way to keep this commute short, but I am wondering how bad it will be....

Friendswood, Clear Lake, or League City to Town and Country (BW8 and I-10)

I don't know anyone that makes that commute, so if anyone can tell me anything that would be great.

Also, all I know is 45 south to BW 8...I am assuming there other ways?

I don't think I can handle over an hour...I may be hurting even with an hour... My commute right now is 15-20 minutes!

Maybe you could use this traffic map to see how traffic is coming from different directions.
You'll need to view the map at the time you would be communting since it shows how traffic is at that moment.

I drove from UH to Dickinson at rush hour in 50-ish minutes Monday evening. Downtown to League City is about the same.

I think Beltway 8 is your fastest route. The only alternative is going through downtown or around 610...definitely slower. Can you work alternative hours?

I can leave at 6:45 to 7:00 in the am and at about 3:30 to 4:00 in the PM...

Do you think about 45 minutes on average taking BW8 the whole way? I am wondering if 45 to BW8 is the fastest or if there are other roads that take you to BW8 avoiding some of the traffic?

I'd definitely stick to the beltway. Get an EZ Tag. This will keep you from having to stop and pay tolls.

Going back toward League City there is a bottleneck where the beltway empties out onto 45 south right before the whole freeway narrows by a lane at Dixie Farm Road. Other than this stretch, the construction zone at NASA Parkway and a similar bottleneck at 610, 45 southbound actually flows pretty well even at rush. Strangely, I tend to see northbound going slower than southbound in the evening rush.

Leaving before 7 in the morning and before 4 in the evening might spare you of the worst traffic. This doesn't mean it's going to be 70 mph the whole way necessarily.

It will be a costly commute taking the belt ( I am thinking 4 or 5 tolls each way) but I think going thru town would be really slow. You could take 45 to downtown to 10. From downtown to Town and Country would be a reverse commute on the new freeway. But, from 45 to Downtown would be slow.
Taking the belt to 45 in the afternoon slows around hwy 90 but you may beat it going before 4pm and like jefre8 said it slows on 45 s after you exit the belt.
either way this will be costly or slow.
Good luck!

I took the Beltway from Hobby at rush hour to Memorial/Town and Country about 6 months ago. It really wasn't bad traffic wise as some commutes in town. That said, it was about 50 minutes. But this was in the evening, so it would be the reverse of what you do. The biggest back up was right around 59. But, it wouldn't be a cheap commute.

Thanks!

I do not want to move there! I want to move to Sugarland area...but I have to take my husband's job situation into account.

We should know which area by the end of May.
