Hey DS...thanks for the links on the Lists in Westifield. Just finished reading the "long version". Wow...so much more info I never really knew...or wanted to know! Guess as kids, we were all more interested in the "haunted" house then the man behind the murders! Funny, Patty List had to have been 1 yr behind me at WHS and I never knew her or even heard of her. In a small town like Westifield, that's pretty amazing!

Yes...I imagine it is! It looks just as it was described from the exterior.

Yep, that was it. Hard to imagine it was so nice inside. All of that "decorative" ironwork was recycled.

Haunted? Sounds like the stuff stories sitting around the campfire are made of!
I have to go do a drive by and see what sits there now...

Bill List, who owned the house was the owner of Bill's Trailers on Telephone Rd. where long trailers were made for the oil or pipeline industry back in the 80's. Bill had a history of picking up homeless boys on Montrose and giving them money or drug for sex. Bill was a witness to a police shooting of an unarmed teenager that stold a van. The van crashed right in front of Bill business on telephone Rd one night. Bill saw the police use a throw down gun. (later a movie was made for tv about the case) Bill is the father of Deborah Davis, she was one of the two people that was picked axed by Carla Feye Tucker (Carla was the first woman to be executed in the United States since 1984, and the first in Texas since 1863). Bad things happened in that house.

I remember going to that house when I was younger. The story that I always heard told was he killed his family, then later on would bring young boys/men to the house to have sex with them. Then he would torture them. That is why it looks like a prison (to keep people in the house)

I went in the house around 1997. The feeling in the house was creepy as was the walk up the long driveway with the cattails hiding the water. After we had snuck in the garage, there was a door that led off the main part of the garage that led to a narrow room? closet? It had no natural light but when we shined our flashlights in the room, it had large metal hooks hanging from the ceiling.

I don't even want to know.

I am confused. I read both stories - and they appear to be about different people. Have I got this right?:
Bill List - the murder victim, killed by one of the street boys in his butt-ugly house at 3300 Toddville in Seabrook
John List - a jerk that killed his family (in New Jersey), that died in prison.

Are they in any way related ?

No...no relation....It just so happens DesertSun and I both knew of the Westfield, NJ John List murders. I lived in Westifield at the time...DS was working there.
Bill List murder not related in any way.
