Appears that The Woodlands schools and Conroe ISD in general is not included in Metro Houston. According to the map I'm looking at, The Woodlands HS is definitely further out from dowtown Houston than any Katy school. Klien ISD schools are on the list though.

You can argue that the rankings aren't fair because they are influenced by income, but that doesn't mean they aren't true. It's not about private tutoring either. Higher income schools usually have higher levels of parent involvment in general. Kids raised in higher socio-economic environments have a distinct advantage from birth, stemming from their parents' vocabularies and the abundance of books in the home. Fair? No...just facts.

Here is the link explaining how these rankings were calculated:
http://www.childrenatrisk.org//cmsFiles/Files/Methodology_2009_FINAL.pdf (broken link)

In specific regard to income:
Quote:
Economically Disadvantaged: the percentage of students coded as eligible for free or reduced-price lunch or eligible for other public assistance.
The effects of poverty are pervasive and negatively impact how a child is able to learn and perform academically. Research shows that poverty is a predictor of whether or not a student will graduate from high school in 4 years and will achieve post-secondary academic success. Thus, CHILDREN AT RISK assumes a high school that is working with a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students must put forth more effort to retain and support these students. For this reason, these schools are rewarded.
Lastly, the high schools in The Woodlands (Conroe ISD - The Woodlands HS and College Park) were not included because they do not have freshmen classes. There is a table in the link above showing which high schools were not included and why.

i think Carnegie Bellaire YES Prep and Debakey all deserve to b here!!! Bellaire may not have the best academics out of these 4. but it ranks in the top 0.5% of the country and they have sports extracurriculars clubs and everything u could want in a high school!
