YIKES! I guess we should be telling people to keep their flash turned off then! Wouldn't want to lose my prized Nikon to those!

Yeah, my camera's cheap and it's not waterproof. So that's a non-starter. I'll stay on the beach.

Thanks for all the advice. My family went to Galveston beach about 10 years ago, and I enjoyed it. We love seafood, so do you have any advice for seafood restaurants?

Gaidos is the Islands most famous seafood resaurant. Next door is their casual place but same food ...Caseys.
Skip Joes and Landrys you can get that anywhere.

Also, best/strongest margaritas in town (to me) are at El Tiempo. Damn good food too.

The only choice I agree with is Boudreaux's. The only better etoufee I've had was homemade by a real cajun.
It's in West, Texas, inside a Shell station. I've never had a better kolache anywhere. Their standard non-fancy kolache is a spicy sausage inside sweet bread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It puts the Kolache Factory to shame despite their infinite variety. I'm thinking road trip.

For good seafood with a view, try Clifton by the Sea in Bacliff.

Hmm... have not heard of "flash eating bacteria". Does it affect camera flashes, or hot flashes?

We love cities and getting the feel of a new place. We love museums and aquariums, too, but we will be on a budget, so which ones should we definitely go to? We also like parks and outdoor things, so what activities in Houston fit us well? Are there any plays there that aren't really expensive? Is there any kind of observation deck from any of the skyscrapers?

Thanks for any advice you can give us!
This site lists quite a few tours available. Sounds fun!
