Fun in Houston?
What is there to do in Houston for fun besides the usual crap like going to a bar/club or restraunt?
I'd like to add that I don't find museums very fun and going for walks in the museum district or Montrose don't really get me excited either. I also don't have kids so the zoo is not fun to me, either.

well there are all sorts of outdoor activities. Go kayaking, canoeing, boating. There are softball leagues, and golf courses aplenty.
You said what you do not like, what is it you do like...hobbies?

Yeah. Look into some meetup groups or play a game of pickup basketball. YMCAs usually have adult leagues for softball or basketball. Golf, like Poltracker stated.
I like to get out on my bicycle. Heck yeah it's hot in Houston. That makes the ride even more fun! And after a great ride I head to the neighborhood pool to cool off and do a few laps.
Check out a local shooting range with some buddies. Volunteer at an animal rescue shelter. Help out at a homeless shelter. You will be surprised at how fortunate you are!
Fishing spots abound in Houston. My dad used to take my brother and I crabbing before Kemah became a hot spot.
Forget the clubs. Take a dance class! AH YEAH!
The only thing holding you back is your imagination (crap I sound like someone from Disney or something). Ok, I hope that helps.

There is so much to do in Houston! Are you just in a rut?
Off the top of my head:
Sporting events - Astros, Aeros, Rockets, Dynamos
NASA / Space Center Houston
Kemah Board Walk
Kemah Cruise - they have a murder mystery cruise going on right now
Horse track / Dog track
Lots of crawfish events going on right now
Parks - Hermann Park, Memorial Park, Discovery Green
Ice Skating / Shopping at the Galleria
Farmer's Markets
Cypress Outlet malls
Houston Grand Opera / Houston Symphony / Houston Ballet
Performances at Alley Theatre, Hobby Center, TUTS
Miller Outdoor Theater (free)
Downtown Aquarium
IMAX
Splash Town water park
Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn in Galveston
Battleship Texas docked near the San Jacinto Monument – take a tour of both
Take the 90 minute boat trip around the Houston ship channel
St Arnolds brewery tour
Horseback riding
Comedy clubs
Walk around / shop / eat at the Woodlands Waterway or Market Street
Old Town Spring
I'll stop there. Hope it helps.
P.S. I don't have kids and I love going to the zoo

I agree with the other posters.
However, I am still wondering what you are looking for:
bars/clubs, restaurants, museums, museum districts, neighborhoods like Montrose, zoos.
Isn't this the kind of things that cities have to do for fun?

Wow you about covered it all, and quite complete too. All things I like to do. I especially like your last comment on the Zoo.
