Default Singapore is like Houston

Houston has a warm humid climate like Sigapore. There is much rain and tropical moisture and forest as in Sigapore.

My husband and I are relocating to Singapore for a 3-year contract assignment. I think being from Houston will give me an advantage, since we won't have to adjust to the weather so much. Although from what I understand, Singapore is hot and humid year-round, whereas here in Houston we at least get a break for 5 months or so.

have fun in Singapore. Heard singaporeans are very friendly and outgoing.
I will tell you already though, is that in summer months Houstonians go from air conditioned indoor to their air conditioned car and drive to their destination which is also air conditioned. Expect Singapore to be less of a driving city.

Default Driving city

Houston is on the verge of having their new infrastructor for a rail system... more people will be walking and using the rail... as a kid I walked home from school during the late spring early summer months and in the fall... I normall took the bus but on occasion loved the walk... I still walk... with the new rail it will improve mobility without cars.

I have lived in Singapore for the last three years and If i had my way I would never leave. The people are friendly, the weather is great. You dont need a car in Singapore because the public transport is outstanding. You have a Bus ever 15 minutes or you can walk a little distance and get on the MRT (under ground rail system) Either way I doubt you will pay more that USD 1$ to get anywhere on public transport.

You also have soo many Taxi's. They too are not so expensive and you can always be sure to just wave one down on the street.

If you do decide on driving dont get a big car because the parking spaces are not like in the US. A normal family 4 door would be fine no need for an SUV.

If you dont mind the heat which is 26C at night and up to 35C during the day then feel free to walk. It is a great place to live.
