The OP said great things about Houston and I offered up a few unsolicited opinions of my own about Houston. I see the great things about Houston, but I also see the problems with Houston as well. I doubt I'm the first person to ever post in a thread that didn't exactly ask for my opinion. It's a public forum and thus we can all post whatever we like as long as rules are not being broken. I don't think my post broke any rules so let's all stop the fighting.
agreed?

Sorry to make it seem like I'm bickering. This is definitely not a fight for it is silly to fight over the internet. I just don't understand sometimes when you just seem to always find the negatives in Houston. It just seems like you find any excuse to put Houston down when I don't understand why? Understand it's your opinion but you can't say that someone else would hate Houston just cause you do. Can you?

I don't always post negative things about Houston. I also post positive things about Houston as well. Maybe you just notice the negative because it solicits a stronger reaction.
I live in Houston because I was raised here and go to school and work here. I would prefer to live in a different city but that's just not possible for me at this time. I still need to finish school and then find a job somewhere I like.
In a public forum you will find differing opinions. There is nothing wrong with that. Some think Galveston has beautiful beaches and others may not. That's fine. Some find Houston summers to be hot and humid others find it to be warm and pleasant. Nothing wrong with that. That's the great thing about this forum. Different opinions are welcome (or at least I think they are).

Oh come on. It's just good manners to let someone give a nice compliment to our city and say "thank you". Then leave it at that! You didn't HAVE to join in with an ugly post.

Austin is nicer. Houston might have been nice years ago, but not anymore.

That's ridiculous.
Austin has gone downhill because it grew too fast. The infrastructure can't keep up, traffic is awful for a city of that size, sprawl is everywhere, and prices are outrageous consider the lack of amenities you'd expect from a major city.
Houston on the other hand, has seen vast improvements in most ways. The economy has diversified, more parks and greenspace have been added, and the current mayor is having billboards taken down.

If you think it's fine to have a double-standard... whatever.

So just to be clear, you do hate living Houston though right? I will agree that everyone has there own opinion but when someone like the OP comes on here and basically tells all that he likes Houston and he can't wait to settle down here, why do you find it necessary to then try to point it out to him that Houston sucks? It sounds as though you're trying to sway him against it when he really didn't asked to be swayed.
Once again, I understand you have your own opinion and you're entitled to them but why not express them when asked? I, personally, wouldn't like to go on here and telling people I had a great time here/there but then someone coming in trying to be a wet blanket and ruin my exciting experience with negativity.

I didn't have to but I wanted to. You are saying that I must respond with thank you or nothing at all. Why should I post what others want me to post. I have a mind of my own.
I really don't see what was so ugly about my post. Everything I said was my honest opinion. I don't always post in threads where I think everyone will agree with me. It's nice when someone supports your opinion but I don't need that kind of validation every time I post something.
I see that I have struck a nerve with several of you so I'll move on.

Agreed. I believe 'westhou' did state that the Op will hate to live here. Wouldn't that be considered as telling someone what they can and can't like?

I said I wouldn't post anymore in here in order not to offend anyone else but since you asked me a direct question I don't want to be rude and ignore you. You seem like a nice person so I'll respond back.
My first post was not to sway the OP from moving here. Just giving the OP a perspective from someone that lives here. The OP was here in the spring and enjoyed the humidity. I wanted the OP to know that from my perspective the humidity in the summer can be unbearable. The OP also said we have nice beaches nearby. I'm not sure which beach the OP visited but that would be the first time I've ever heard someone view the beach that way so I wasn't sure if they were going by word of mouth or actually saw the beach with their own eyes. The OP also said they liked the freeways. I guess the Katy freeway is nice now but have you seen 290, 288, 59, 45, 610? I just wanted the OP to be aware of what they would be in for if they moved here.....lots of traffic!
What I said may not have been necessary but what exactly is always necessary? We post, we move on. Nothing we post is life or death. Next time someone disagrees with you just try to understand that there are differing opinions out there and ganging up on one person for stating something that you don't agree with can come across as unfriendly.
To be honest the only thing I found to be unnecessary in this thread was the person who told me I'm having a bad day because I had something negative to say about Houston. That person doesn't even know me. I'll never understand why people feel the need to put others down in order to get their point across. We can disagree with each other without name calling (not that you did that. I'm directing that at the person telling me I'm having a bad day).
No hard feeling
