Default Recommendations for a weekend getaway?

I'm thinking forward to when I need an escape from Houston environs.

Any suggestions for a hotel/spot within a couple hrs drive of North Houston (The Woodlands) to escape? Would prefer some place to get some much needed spa treatments but also a place that would be relatively child-friendly (14 month olds) as well as have updated wheelchair accessibility.

Any Hill Country suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes, yes, and yes. San Gabriel River Inn. We were there at the end of March. Blissful. I cannot recommend enough! The owners are awesome and you never ever see them. Ever. It's your own private house. We can't wait to go back (we def. want to take the girls next time).

Not sure if you will be able to see this or not...if not let me know and I will post a different link.

Edited to add: oh wait...no spa treatments, but there is a spa--as in hot tub. Sorry!! I'd recommend Lost Pines Resort (Hyatt) in Bastrop if you're looking for more of a hotel experience.

Mom2Feebs - great photos! It looks like you & your DH had a fabulous time!

Yes...we are needing more of a hotel experience simply because of handicap accessibility (roll-in shower, rooms designed for wheelchair users, etc...). I'll look into the Hyatt you mentioned.

I agree with above - Hyatt Lost Pines or there is Hyatt Hill Country. Check the websites - they have extensive child focused activites, but not sure what ages there program accepts. But the Hyatt resort seems to exactly what you are asking for.

Was gonna say Hill Country Hyatt. Kids will love it and the lazy river, and all the playground stuff with campfires and wagon rides. A spa for you and Sea World right there if you get really bored. Just don't wait untill its TOO hot.

Horshoe Bay Resort, west of Austin, in Marble Falls is on a gorgeous lake and very alid back. Go into Marble Falls to the Bluebonnet Cafe for some awesome pie!

Gaylord in Dallas in pretty sweet. Around Christmas they have huge Ice Sculpture and snow slide dome. You have to wear a snow suit and everything
