Default Info. on nightlife

Hi everyone,

I have been searching for some suggestions on nightlife. I am hoping someone can help me out. My mother, who is in her mid-50's, is going through a separation/divorce and I want to take her out on the town for her birthday. Having just moved here 2 years ago with my family, I haven't a clue where to go. She loves to dance and loves live music, but I need a place with some sophistication and not packed with 20 year olds. I read about a few places ranging from country bars, jazz clubs to hotel bars, but there were mixed reviews and too many to choose from. I need a seasoned Houstonian to fill me in on some good places to take her.

Thanks.

I have a 50 year old friend who hangs out with my 50 year old sister and they go to a country club called Tumbleweed. I believe it is on Kuykendahl but I'm not sure. I am married with children and don't go to clubs but this seems to be the place alot of older folks go. They run into people they know all the time and they have alot of fun. They are both divorced and go every saturday night. Alot of times a radio station will be there and there seems to be no shortage of people to dance with etc. .
