We are an Asian family with two small children and are moving from NY to Houston this summer. We initially looked at West U and Bellaire as we were told that we would find many families with younger children as well as a fair amount of diversity in the population. However, we have become interested in Tanglewood because of the overall lack of claustrophobia. Any thoughts on the presence of younger families living in Tanglewood. Also, what is the demographic like, in terms of diversity?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Not very diverse. Most of the families with younger children live in the more claustraphobic Briargrove (not very diverse either) and then move to Tanglewood or Memorial when the kids are teens.

Bellaire would be your most diverse City Suburb. West U is crawling with kids. You will find far more diversity in the Master Planned Communities. Sugarland has a huge Asian population.

When discussing diverse areas, Tanglewood is not one that comes to mind.

In terms of demographics, well, George and Barbara Bush live over there. They are among "their people" there.

It is a very nice neighborhood, but I think you would find more diversity in Bellaire, if that is important to you.

West U Elem is packed. Tons of kids here. More diversity in terms of Asians in West U. You may also want to check out Meyer Land, just outside Loop 610. Pretty diverse, and a little more spread out than West U.

You may also want to look at sugar land. Telfair is a new beautiful community. many families here are with young kids. It is about 30 mins drive to galleria and 10 mins drive to Bellaire. It has a fair amount of diversity in population.
