Tyger1906 is on a distinguished road
Default Tomball

Question regarding the Tomball-HWY 249 area.....

Will have EMBA in Dec and looking to move to the area. Schools are important. Price range 175-225k 4/5 br, 3000 sq ft or more. Intrigued by guard gated communities.....

I have zeroed in on Canyon Gate Northpointe in Tomball and Legends Ranch in Spring.

I am familiar with the Houston area having visited many times. Every morning I log onto chron.com and I notice the Hardy and 249 are usually clear......not sure where I will be working......

Are there any drawbacks to living in either one of these areas? Lack of development? Flooding? I notice that Legends is a few miles north of IAH and directly underneath its northern flight paths......that is a little scary to me!

Thanks for your help.

ALWAYS know where you will be working first. The commute can really be a downer if you choose wrong.

Be sure and check out Treeline.

Nice new community that was built on the grounds of the Treeline golf course. They kept many of the big old trees. Very nice custom home community in the "HP Corridor" area.

I live nearby Canyon Gate. It's nice. The area is developed and doesn't have flooding issues that I'm aware of. That subdivision attends Tomball ISD and has a new elementary school that just opened (this year I think). We're also building a new high school nearby. That school will be opened with students that are currently in 6th and 7th grade. My kids are in the school district and I think it is very good. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the schools and I'll try to help.

There are a lot of choices around that area and I would not limit yourself to just gated communities. Lakewood Grove is also very nice but not gated. Village Creek is also very nice. I think Treeline is out of the price range you listed. I would consider looking all of the 77377 zip code in your price range.

We have friends who live in Legends Ranch and LOVE it!!

Depending on your employment location, Tomball may a bit far out..we initially looked at a terrific home in Montgomery County, a teeny bit west of Tomball, and agreed that unless you worked in Tomball, it would mean a very long commute....

Did that for years.....not now....

Legends Ranch, on the other hand, affords you a bit of "away from it all" without really being so....
