My husband is being transferred to Houston, we currently live in Hudson, NH.
Looking for smaller city to live and smaller school districts. I've been online looking, but, it is very overwhelming. What info can anyone give me about Friendswood. I am looking for a high school with no more than 2000 students, our son will be in 10th grade. My husband doesn't mind a commute to work. Many of the cities/districts I've looked at are so large, 3000+ students in high school, thats comparable to a college where we live. We won't be moving untill the end of this school year, so I have time. Thanks for any info

Smile Friendswood School District

I live in Friendswood, but unfortunately am not in the Friendswood School District. I am in the Clear Creek School District and they are building new schools right and left for my neighborhood because the schools are overcrowded. The Friendswood school district is excellent and a lot of people try to move into the area so their kids can attend those schools. Several people in my neighborhoos moved once we found out we would not be zoned for Friendswood ISD. I have yet to meet anyone who did not praise the Friendswood school district.

Good Luck! Everything is BIG in Texas. If you are looking for a "small" town near Houston, I haven't really seen it...but I am a little new here myself. Houston is big, with big suberbs. How far is your husband willing to commute?

There are some nice little close-knit communities located within cities or areas on the outskirts of Houston. Many of them have schools right in the community or private schools nearby but they are still considered "Houston" or "Kingwood", "Katy" etc., which are not small. An example would be the Summerwood neighborhood. Go to www dot HAR dot com and put in your search criteria.

You should check out Danbury ISD in Brazoria County. It is right down hwy 288. The District is a TEA Recognized District. From what I here their are only two in Brazoria County. Danbury's graduating class size is usually between 40 and 50 students. Depending on what part of Houston you are going to, the commute is tolerable. The Medical Center is about 45 minutes depending on the time of day. The school web site is; http://www.danbury.isd.esc4.net/ (broken link)

Good luck.

Clear Creek schools are top-notch. There are plenty of smaller suburbs of Houston, but they are growing quickly.
