I am considering relocating to Houston. Other than oil companies what type of small and medium companies are available in Houston. Which other industries would you say has a lot of employment. Would appreciate any replies.

Banking, investment trading, IT of course. Construction etc you name it. they dont have resort management or anything related to vacations :\

The Texas Medical Center is actually the largest employer in Houston. Medicine/medical research has as large a presence as oil industries, most people just don't know about it.

Around the Bay Area/ Clear Lake, there are lots of engineering and aerospace type places that support NASA.

Finance is big too. And a reasonable amount of high-tech/computers/software.

Really, there's everything.
