Default Galveston Beaches to BBQ at?

We haven't been to Galveston since Ike. Does any know where a good place to Grill some burgers and steaks might be? We'd normally go to Galveston Islan State Park, but we're not even sure if it's open. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The state park is open despite what the outdated web site says. It really is only part open and the RV section is not open at all. It should be fully open by the end of the month.

I never seen anyone cooking on the beach so that is a different question. The far east end on Boddecker Rd where almost anything goes might be a good bet. It's not the prettiest area but it has been cleaned up of the debris. There also will not be no English spoken in that area if that is a concern to you.

I suspect anywhere where Lifeguards and swimmers will be you may get chased away. Try the far far west end where you will still find areas where there are few or no houses and there still is beach access.

And dont forget to clean up after yourself !!
