I'm with Start Tex. My last bill from a few days ago was 10.7 cents per KWH.

sorry, nothing to do with your electric company. the insulation in your apppt s****ks. I used to live on a second flr 800sqft apt and ran a bill upto $300...now living in a $2500sq ft home, max so far has been $120... and sadly, (almost) nothing you can do about it... unless you want to take it upon yourself to fill-in-the-gaps with insulation.

Might have to do with a very inefficient AC system as well. Without including lights, fans, tv, etc... if my unit ran 24/7 (2200 sq ft) the bill would be about $275. Or maybe there was a big mis-read in the meter. Badmash, go read the meter and see what it looks like vs. your bill.

I would take a look at your meter and get the AC unit checked out. How many kWhs have you been using? If you're only there at night/early am for ten hours, something is probably wrong, even with a 14.4 rate.

i was with green mountain at a decent 13.3 c/kwh rate. i fought the 'battle' for months, even paid center point $20-30 for a meter re-read & for a tech to come out and check the meter..no problems there. With the air-leak thru windows/ doors, i just couldn't help it. Another thing you might wanna try before changing your companies, ask around ppl living in a similar appt as urs on top level...that'll give you an idea..(or call your current electric provider and ask them for the last years bill for your address... they can release that to you to get an idea what you unit's avg summer bills are... but trust me changing the electric companies is not so worth... 1 cent isn't gonna gain you anything..cuz remember ALL meters are installed, read and maintained by ONLY one company- CENTER POINT...remember the Texas degulation bill passed a few years ago!
