I would say Gulfton, Sunnyside and the Third Ward are the most dangerous neighborhoods. Both Sunnyside and the Third Ward have 1 block each that was features in Americas top 10 blocks with the highest chance of one passing to be involved in a crime scene. Gulfton is notoriously known for its gang activity. The Southwest Cholos and MS-13 have been fighting for territory for the last few decades

That was a first for me.
A little before that I lived in the same area off Bob White. I used to see the police helicopters with their search lights all the time. In the winter when the sound carried, I would hear the automatic weapons fire every weekend (although I think a lot came from Hillcroft Square in Westbury which they have since torn down). Had a couple employees live in one of the complexes on Fondren between Bellfort and West Airport who would frequently have to pull their kids down to the floor because they would hear gunfire in the complex. The one with common sense moved. Also saw someone walking his full sized tiger once on Ludington near Bob White. But he did have him on a leash!

Sunnyside, South Park, the McGowen part of 3rd Ward, and Fondren Southwest are the worst.

Someone should convince an ordinary family with a bunch of kids and a dog to stay at one of those places. Videotape them coming into the parking lot, and look at the faces of the people in the complex go in disbelief.

I want to see the look on the face of the receptionist when she/he sees the clueless family come in

Someone was gunned down in the middle of the day at Braeswood and Gessner yesterday. The area hasn't changed that much.

What is the area considered near Gallery Furniture on the other side of 45? It always seems sketchy to me

There's a lot of dangerous neighborhoods around the city. Sunny side is known for violent crimes. Third Ward, Gulfton, Alief, parts of sharps town, 5th Ward, South Park, Acres Homes, Homestead. Parts of Airline Drive are pretty bad as well

+ Yellowstone, some of the eastern parts of 2nd ward, and a lot of the neighborhoods in between 5th ward and homestead while we're at it, since you revived a year old thread.
