A major misconception, when it comes time to building new home, is that the builder is responsible of bad houses.
The truth. The bid of a 1 million dollar house or a 200k house goes to the lowest contractor, therefore a work group could be building 800k home for ashton woods, then next week turn around and build a 100k home for KB home. Therefore a house is as solid as whoever built it.
Now back to your question about pearland. Harwood homes/ first texas has a bad track record in many areas. Pearland? Nope. They're clean as a whistle. Why take my word for it. Look at plantation home/ Westin homes/ Newmark homes complaints for the same area.
Because the same contracters were used for Plantation homes, lennar, and newmark in that same area, there hasn't been any major problems.
Furthermore, if you look at the areas where first texas has a bad record( Richmond, midlothian, dallas) all the other builders from the same exact area have the same problems. Don't believe me? Look it up on BBB and cross reference the areas.
Pearland on pearland parkway. Great place close to freeway. Great builders and square footage. Harwood / Westin. Make amazing homes for the price. Especially westin with their 4400 home with porte corche ( sorry i misspelled) starting at 335k. And harwood with their 4000 sf starting at 284k.
I'd stay away from plantation. Not because they're bad, but last time i tried to price anything, i felt like i was being nickle and dimed at every turn.
Hope this helps and good luck on your city search.
My background- I'm currently in realtor school.
