Doggie licensing Montgomery County???
Hi Y'all!
What are the requirements / time limits for licensing fuzzy kids in Montgomery County??? I am certain we will have to provide shot records for them? (not a problem btw of course..)
and so ya know....yes we were proactive, and have had all three on heartworm preventative since Christmas....in preparation.....(they are house-kids here...but wanted to be super prepared.....even though they will be house-kids in TX too...not worth taking chances with the luvies of our lives !!)

So you don't license your dogs???? Here we have to provide the city with periodic shot records, and depending if the dog is "fixed" or not, pay a fee accordingly, and the city issues a tag for their collars...
We don't do that there???
Just want to be sure we do things correctly..

Yes, get a license from your vet. Also, you will need Bordetella (sp) shots twice a year vs. once. And just so you know, make sure your dog is AVID chipped. Montgomery County shelters have a 24 hour period before they put down strays and lost dogs without ID/Chips. It's very tragic.

You don't HAVE to have the Bordetella or Micro-chips. The Bordetella is a vaccine to prevent kennel cough...helpful if you board, but not a law. It is nasal vac. The micro-chip is implanted at the base of the neck, through the vet, about the size of a grain of rice and it has your info on it. Again, not law..just nice to have in case your dogs get lost. I know you have both in Ca., because my dogs got both there.
Your are only required to have the Rabies vac in the state of Tx. And you are suppose to license your dog...in Harris County it is done at the court house...Vets do not do this..they only issue your Rabies tag.
In saying that...not a biggie...in fact, don't know one single person who has actually applied for a dog license.

Shelby, boarding places won't take you dog unless you have the Bordetella shot. And up north, they want it every six months. That's why I told her.
I seem to get my dog license through my vet. <shrug> I guess they just fill out the form and send it in

My dogs board all the time without it. I guess it must depend on the facility.
As for the license, a woman was asking about it while I was at the vet last week with Dylan. They directed her to City Hall. Again, maybe it depends on the facility.

If you do board...you will also need a distemper 3 in 1.Can't remember what the "3" entails. That and Rabies should you board anywhere.
