Default Greetings Everyone

Hey there everyone, I wanted to check in and introduce myself. I have been lurking on this forum for a while now, researching the Houston area.

I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area but will be picking up stakes with my wife and moving to Houston in September. It will be an adventure for us as we are both born and raised in California and have no family in Texas. Despite that, we are both really looking forward to living in Texas!

Cheers!

Monty

I'm from Southern California, went to college at Cal. We've lived in Dallas and now Houston and love them both. The Californians here who don't like Texas for the most part are those who come thinking it's "just like California but without the beach." (yes, I know Texas actually does have a beach but Californians tend to look down at non-California beaches...) It's not. Texas is its own vibe and way of life. Embrace it here and you'll never want to leave!

Default Welcome!

If I could live anywhere, it would be the Bay Area! However, I cannot live anywhere becuase I'd never be able to afford it.

You will surely be amazed at how much house you can get for the money here. It's hot as hell, and humid to boot, and though I've been here over 25 years, I still don't like the humidity, or have gotten used to it, 'still hate it.

The city itself is great, lots of friendly people, and very international. Houston is one of the most diverse cities that I've been to, and I've been all over the world. 'Not sure why it's such a secret, or not advertised, but you will find someone from every corner of the earth here. People are friendly as you can see.

Not everyone has a Texas accent, wears boots, or likes country music; as others have noted, but you will find it all here!
