Default New to Katy area

We live in Katy. We lived in north Houston years ago. Is there a town/area similar to Old Town Spring near us? (Less than 30 minutes away.) There's nothing wrong with Katy's downtown, but I don't think it compares at all with Spring. My mother-in-law is coming to visit soon; she really enjoyed Old Town Spring and I would love to be able to provide her with a likewise shopping/dining "cute" small town experience.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

Try Columbus- although it is more than 30 min. away, more like an hour.

As much as I like Olde Towne Spring...its too hot to be outside walking from shop to shop! Go to Katy Mills Mall! Tons of stores but all in the a/c! If you really want that kind of feel...try taking a ride out to Kemah...I haven't been out since the flooding but they have a whole bunch of really quaint shops just like OTS....plus really good restaurants that are right on the waterfront! There is even a lot of fun things there for kids to do while the older folks like to shop! If you don't want to eat there you can go to the other side of the bridge & buy really fresh seafood at reasonable rates & bring it home to make! JMHO
