In Houston by way of San Diego.
I went to college in Texas so I'm somewhat familiar & have visited/worked in several TX cities over the years. Chose Houston to be closer to family now that we have 2 little ones - it has been great to have our network of family here and established family friends that we've inherited.

I've only been here since November 08. Biggest adjustment is my own mindset about leaving the CA-lifestyle behind which for me really revolved around weather-centered activities. I've had a hard time adjusting to The Woodlands which was a shocker to me but we're moving next week to Mo City which will bring us even closer to our family as well as a bit closer to areas of Houston we like to frequent (or would like to frequent).

In the Austin forum there would have been 30 replies by people from California.

Yeah, my Cali friends ask me all the time, "Don't you ever walk anywhere?"
Then, when I remind them where they're from (Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota), they say, "Oh yeah, I remember....".
I ask them, "Do you still have to find a place to park on the street somewhere near your apartrment, instead of parking in a lot or garage near your door?"

I lived in California for 23 years. Also Austin for 10 years and Seattle for almost 10 years. The transition from Los Angeles to Austin was the most rough because it was a HUGE culture shock at the time. Different size, scenery, weather, vibe, everything. I moved to Austin for a relationship and it took me a long time to appreciate Texas.
