Born and raised in Southern California.

Went to San Francisco State and then Cal State Northridge to get my degree in Emergency Medicine. Currently a Paramedic and training to be a police officer and get my BS in Criminal Justice, and im only 23. Im not going to lie, the pay is horrible when compared to the cost of living in Southern California. Me and my girlfriend are paying 1400 for a 800 sq ft apt. Its sick. Hence the move to TX where my dollar is essentially worth more. Also, the emergency medical opportunites seem to be so great within the state of TX that I will have to say that im most likely going to enjoy working here.

Hope to see you guys soon.

UH - two undergraduate degrees and a certification in things I liked but weren't "practical." Graduate degree from UNT with more practicality in the field of education.

The pay could be better. If I switched to corporate work doing the same thing I'm doing now the pay would indeed be better, but I love what I do (and have a personal obligation to work in the nonprofit sector) and that makes up for the discrepancy.

Sounds like my undergraduate degrees. Do not let your kids major in any liberal arts! Shame I had to find out the hard way.
