Default Best Communte (arrival 9am, departure 4pm): Seabrook area to Bush Intercontinental

I will be driving from Seabrook toward the North area of Houston around Bush Intercontinental. I am expecting travel to take approximately an hour's time (not including traffic delays). I am new to the area so am unsure of construction, congested areas, etc. I will be arriving at my destination between 8:30 and 9:00 am and will leave to return home at 4:00 pm. Google of course tells me to take 146 to 255 to 610, but my Aunt suggested taking Beltway 8? I'm most concerned with avoiding the most congested routes as I am not used to heavy traffic conditions and am completely unfamiliar with the area. I have taken 610 HOME before around 4pm and had no problems with traffic, as it was a steady flow. I am mainly worried about the morning commute. Any suggestions? I will be taking this route all of this week. Thanks!

Let me think about this. Hmm. I'm going to say do the first route, but take the Hardy Toll Road off of 610 and you will have a sweet ride the whole way up. You'll need to leave at 7-7:30, in order to make sure you are there at 8:30-9 I would think...on the way home do the same route, just backward.

Wow! Heck of a commute! I agree w/ Mom2Feebs on the route. Beltway 8 is a good back-up but too many lights have been put in and major construction for the expansion is starting and that will do nothing but slow everyone down. When Beltway 8 is completed, that would definitely be the best route to take.

If the Beltway is ever completed.
I think they just want to do the Grand Parkway to the Netherlands instead.

Construction has already started. It would behoove them to finish that 13 miles of road, rather than do a whole new band around the other 3 that already exist.

It takes me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get from Humble to the sea wall in Galveston using the Beltway all the way around - even with the lights.

I know the OP isn't talking Galveston, but I am just pointing out that the commute along the east side of the Beltway is not bad, and will be even sweeter once completed.

I just want to know how many people I have to give reps to before CD considers it enough! I can't rep you again until that happens...

So....just pretend you got another rep.

I dont often listen to google but I would take 146 to 225 to 610. In fact I did it just last Tuesday to go to the airport from Kemah. It was about 2PM and took us less then an hour. We left the airport and took the same route home at 5PM with no traffic jambs. I never seen heavy traffic on 225 but I might miss when all those plants let out.

The only traffic we even hit was in Seabrook.

I dont understand how the beltway works so I stay away from it. Especially the way locals make fun of those who sit at the toll booths not knowing what to do while creating traffic jambs.

No toll road on Beltway 8 between 225 and the airport, just the toll bridge at $2.00
