Exactly. I don't generally think of strip centers and gas stations thrown in there as particularly scenic.

After a good flood and the Addicks Reservoir fills up driving down Eldridge between I-10 and Clay Road sure looks like lakeside driving. Same can be said for Hwy 6 between I-10 and Clay Road.

So? Between Diary Ashford and Hwy 6 is very nice. Yes there is a lot of commercial activity at the intersection at Diary Ashford and Memorial but its still an overall very nice drive.

In Texas?? Not that I've ever seen... The nicest scenery I've seen in Tx was in between Plantersrville and College Station out on Hwy 105 going towards Austin when we left town after Hurricane Ike;

In Houston: Downtown to Highway 6 via Memorial
In Texas: Alto to Tyler via 69 and all the little Fms and Crs that go west from there. But, I like green and rolling with veggie stands vs. burnt/dry terrain with cedar and rolling with fufu chi-chi western boutiques.

All around Lake Livingston is scenic. My favorite is FM1514 but that is too short. FM224 and 156 are beautiful countryside while hugging the west side of the lake. While you are there you can visit Wolf Creek Park run by the TRA and drive the smooth paved roads through the woods in all shade. On the east side you have what is named the Scenic Loop or FM3277. Even 150 from Coldspring all the way out to New Waverly Willis area as it hits I-45 is all farms and just a beautiful ride.
