The problem is that if a driver thinks that another driver is leaving one of those parking spots near the front door of the stores, the first driver will stop and wait for an absurdly long time for the second driver to pull out and leave. In the meanwhile, a line of traffic forms behind the waiting driver and no one can go anywhere. It creates a total mess. A more pedestrian-oriented approach would be to add bigger garages and put all the cars somewhere separate from stores and people.

No, what is the "lil Beverly Hills"?

The only reason why that new Minute Maid Office is there is because one of the execs lives in sweetwater... besides they are only occupying 2 or 3 stories of that building... the bottom 4 stories are empty.

THIS Beverly Hills

Yea I saw that actually...

They should have actually added an extra buffer so that any cars not waiting can squeeze by. I think Rice Village has that type of set up

That tiny little stretch of stores? Yeah, I knew that. I thought you were talking about some new homes right there or something. But, it is a lot nicer than just a mall parking lot (what it was before).

There are several areas in Houston that look like that. Post Oak Blvd from Westheimer up to San Felipe is a lot more impressive looking for the palm trees and glitz thing. Also Highland Village is another that comes to mind.

Right but I am concerned at the obvious lack of originality which has become so common throughout that area. As mentioned before... "the street parking is there to give it a Main Street Feel" what about a SUGARLAND Feel.

I swear that whole area has succumbed to the notion that things must be a certain way. That there is no need for any type of critical thinking... Just look at Beverly Hills or Main Street of any metropolitan area. And then BAM just copy it and it becomes the new TownCenter.

And the sad truth is that people have been so easily amused at the construction of all this and say "wow check out this new place". It surprises me the shallowness of how my fellow SugarLanders can see things at face value and be amused.

And as you have just mentioned... there are places like this in Post Oak... WestHeimer and Highland Village.

You should (hopefully) see some "Sugar Land" feel once the Imperial Sugar site is redeveloped. It's been bought and planned out, but this terrible economy and financial market has slowed down the progress, just like with almost everything else.

The terrible economy might have slowed down... but they still continue to add on to the Towncenter... I am referring to the side that is facing Highway6

does anyone know what is going up there?

Its a suburb, and a nice place for those who live nearby. Its not really a tourist attraction or hot-spot. I wouldnt leave the Loop to go there.

Specifically no, but it looks like more office space, retail, and restaurants/bars.

Signage says Class A offices. I'm thinking I don't want to be anywhere near there at rush hour or lunch time. The only way I can get there now without facing ridiculous traffic is to take back roads.
