Can anybody give me some information on how to find a good lawyer to sue a collection agency ( or can recommend one)? Some don't deal with those issues. I did contact some lawyers already, but no one replied
Has someone done this before?

You probably need to provide some clarity.

Are you wanting to sue a collection agency for trying to collect a legitimate debt, or are you wanting to sue because you feel you are being unjustly hassled about a debt that is not your own?

Or, for some other reason?

I'm guessing you tried to get them to do it on a contingency basis? If you've been sent to collections, most lawyers figure you can't pay them either.

Sorry, but that is so not true. There are many lawyers out there that specializeed in those things. I just can't find somebody.
BTw, it's about 143 Dollars AND ( if I'm not mistaken) you gotta pay them in advance anyway.

They can't supply me with valid proof ( they have to according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act). They irgnore my letters or just send me nonsense. It's time that I take it to the next level.

OP, you might try naca.net (National Association of Consumer Advocates) to find a lawyer who is involved in consumer credit.

If they are reporting incorrectly, and you dispute but they will not correct or remove it, then that would be FCRA violations. If they are violating in other areas then they would be in violation of both the FDCPA and the Texas Finance Code (the TFC, if you are in Texas that is).

If you are in TX then do not overlook the TFC. It is much stronger than the federal FDCPA.

I'd suggest that you consider that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act provides for a maximum recovery of $1,000 for abusive collection practices. So thank your Congressperson for providing such a noble law with teeth to protect the consumers.

Just like to add that I was the victim of a collector for a $3500 colonoscopy that I never had the pleasure to receive. I spent numerous hours and ultimately told them to sue me since they would have to validate the debt in the process of filing for suit. This is a calculated move and should not be done without the assistance of counsel.

Excellent advice.
