Default Coming to Houston...finally??

Well after 11 months and a loss of $40,000 on the cash we have put into our house over 10 years, we got an offer on our house and are waiting on the paperwork from the relocation company. It's bittersweet, because the people who are buying our house are not nice people, but hopefully they will care for the house I designed and we built. We have to get clarification from the relo company as to when the point of no return is, so that we can book a house hunting trip, but I am confident these people want the house bad enough that they aren't gonna renege on anything.

The upside, aside from relocating, is that had we sold our house 11-6 months ago, we would have gotten a "normal" house...1 or 2 acres with a comfortable mortgage. Now, with our political viewpoint and view on the economy and direction of the government/country, we have decided use our equity to get acreage with a "livable" house which means no mortgage and save up cash for 5 years to renovate. The borrower is slave to the lender and we aren't playing that game anymore. This way, whatever poop is gonna hit the oscilator, we will always have a roof over our head.

We are hoping to get to house hunt (look at the 16 homes we chose from HAR) at the end of July or August...it depends on when the Pet Nanny is available...Maybe by then the heat will die down and not be such a shock to our system??? Global Warming is really taking it's toll here in PA...it's in the 40's everynight and I've yet to wear shorts

Where are you located in PA? I am in Philly. Yeah, the globe is going crazy. I have friends in Seattle who say that this is one of the coldest summers they have seen in a while. But Houston is seeing one of the hottest. Crazy stuff.

Anyways, I wish you the best with your move. Houston is a great place. I will probably be moving back within a year. It's home for me. There's no place like home.

Well our closing is the 19th, at least that is what everyone is shooting for (lender). The buyers are absolutley horrendous and we are not allowed to go on our house hunting trip now, because they are considered "high risk" because of their antics and the relo co doesn't want to be stuck with the house if they pull out at the last minute...So once our house closes here, we will be heading to Houston and live in Temp Housing while we put an offer on a house there. Because of this, we are going to be paying $750 to the housing because we have 3 small dogs. Would have been nice if the buyers weren't sohorrible, we could have gotten our equity and been on our way straight to a new house...
