These crimes are happening all over Texas. It isn't limited to Fresno. I work in Sugar Land and have friends who live in Sienna. Sienna has had a few drug related arrest and a suspected kidnapping. Pecan Grove not long ago had the body of a young lady in a ditch. Killed by a psycho boyfriend who lived in the neighborhood. Crime is everywhere....it doesn't matter how much you pay for your house. I also have heard from my friends in Sienna that KNOWN drug dealers live in some of the large homes there because you would be less likely to suspect them in a community like that. Drugs=Gangs=Violence every time.

The housing prices are low and alot of renters are moving in. They mentioned alot of investors are buying to lease and you never know what type of neighbors are going to be there year to year.(I drove around at night to see what goes on there on the weekends......I must say everything was quite and the neighborhood was very well kept)

I do understand that this issue is going on in many places but everyone I talked to in the different divisions within Teal Run wanted to sell because it's not what it use to be. I am one of those people that asks ALOT of question and asks whatever is on my mind about a neighborhood so I did my reseach.

A couple of foreclosures in an area can be dealt with but too many will bring down the value of your purchase because those $110,000 homes are selling for $75,000.

I can't speak on the other subdivisions in that area. But I definelty didn't feel this was a good investment for me.
I see no problem with that.

One, buying anything and looking at is like an investment would drive you nuts. A long term decision like planting roots somewhere should not be look at as such.

Two, I used to deliver pizzas from the Dominos right there on HWY 6...people who are so in the hole on their homes and two shiny new SUVs that they can't afford to tip the pizza guy should be weeded out. Survival of the financially fit, FTW.

I have a feeling that even Section 8 types will have a tough time convincing some "investor" to rent to them.

As for the shooting bit, so what...probably on the SE side of FM 521. That was a pretty lousy looking neighborhood back in my time there. No big deal.

The crime wasn't gang related. There has been a new lead in the investigation.

And come on, crime is everywhere. Heck, I lived a few hundred feet away from where the body of a girl was found near Elkins High School...doesn't mean I'm telling everyone to stay away from Missouri City.

For those who are looking at Fresno, I strongly encourage ya'll to come on down and scout it out for yourself. It isn't that "backwards country" location that some people may suggest.

Check out some of our videos' and you'll see some of the area~

GREAT POST!! Teal Run Estates homeowner since 2007 and LOVE every minute of it. I'm in it for the long run and love that were next to the bustle but are not living in it! Great neighbors and community living. Teal Run has received of bad rep from some on this board for the two years I'm been a memeber. People whom never lived or visited; and all I can say is I'm happy they don't live here. That negativity will sour the whole subdivision.

I'm building in Section 6 of Andover Farms and I couldn't be happier. I've visited (and continue to visit) at every possible time of day and night, on every day of the week and so far it has always been quiet. I've spoken with a few of my neighbors and it seems to be a close community. I see people out all the time working in the yard, riding bikes, or just sitting on the porch and I love it. Crime is inevitable and you can't judge one community by the actions of a few idiots who probably don't even live there!

Teal Run Estates is not for everyone, especially people who have kids and want a quality education.

See what I mean? An example of the negativity. I have kids who receive a quality education AND I live in Teal Run Estates, so i guess because I LIVE here and my children attend SCHOOL here, I don't want the best for them?

You so smart!

I was born and raised in Arcola a neighboring town and anywhere in Fort Bend County is a great place to live. You can find places that are still rual and have room enough for that pony and a fishing pond the kids would love or pick a master planned community where they have a concrete pond.

I'm not saying you don't want the best for your kids, but what you feel is "quality" may not be "quality" in other peoples opinion. There are better schools than the ones in Teal Run....trust me.

HoneyinHouston, obviously your standards differ from mine;however, that doesn't make yours better. The OP asked for opinions on the area and the people that LIVE here gave there's and then there are people like you who ALWAYS have negative comments on MY community. An opinion on an area that you only read about in the paper? Please! That opinion isn't worth _!
