The new apartments near the Energy Corridor are in a great & safe area in West Wouston. There are many brand new complexes along Eldridge Parkway. I just checked a few for you & a 3 bedroom will be about $1500....give or take depending on the complex.

Look online for: Marquis On Eldridge Parkway, Retreat at Eldridge Apts, and the trails at Eldridge Parkway. There are so many more than I listed.

Starts at about 800-900 'in town' and about 700-800 in the nicer suburbs.

Houston is relatively affordable but on a much different scale. When people or studies say Houston has a low cost of living, it is usually in relation to the Houston metropolitan area (about the size of New Jersey ) and the lack of income tax. Throw our property taxes in and Houston's ugly desire for cars+freeways+sprawl, and it detracts a lot.

That being said, I have paid ~600 for small one bedrooms close in, but they were not by any means new.

One bedroom in a nice area will be much more than 770. Anything you might find near 800 will not be a new complex, and will be on the third floor.

In the loop and in the nicer outlying areas, you're going to pay between one to two dollars per square foot. If you pay more than that in monthly rent, you're getting hosed. If you pay less, you're probably providing the landlord with... er... favors.

My brother and sister-in-law pay $935 for about 1100 square feet at Milan on Bellfort near Synott. They both have good incomes and saving up for a house in Meyerland. It's on the border of Sugar Land and Houston. It's new, has a great clubhouse etc. etc. Feeds into FBISD schools (good ones). It is possible to pay less than a dollar per square foot in a good neighborhood. I think the OP should know that our definitions of "nice neighborhood" vary greatly in this forum.

True. Also note that I have relatively little knowledge of rental prices outside 610 and was making an assumption.

When you say nice neighborhood, do you simply mean low crime, or are there other aesthetic or demographic requirements?
