Why do I want my taxpayer money used to buy the course? Would the city make it a public course or divide the property and use it for flood control. Please explain and I may sign it. But I need more info.

The desire is to make it all park area that would double as flood control. Sounds like they will put in some easy maintenance fields that will double as retention. It should help a lot of areas that are really prone to flooding that affect a large part of the general area. The item below is from the recent meeting with the neighborhood association and the City of Houston:

The purpose of the meeting was to let residents of northwest Houston know that Inwood Forest Partners, the current owners of the golf course property, have made an offer to the City of Houston to purchase all of the property. The city has ordered appraisals for all of the property, but our understanding is that the city is currently looking at about 170 acres of the 227 acres of the golf course property to be used for flood detention and recreational purposes. The 170 acres would be roughly the east and west parts of the course. (See the attached map.) This does not include the clubhouse or north part of the course.
The city’s appraisals were scheduled to be completed as soon as this week.
It was stressed at the meeting that we think the acquisition of the golf course property by the City of Houston and it’s use as a community center and for recreational and flood control purposes could lead to the revitalization of the Antoine Corridor.
If you have not seen the July 30th edition of The Leader and their article regarding the meeting, please take a few minutes to read it.
It offers a good summary of what was presented at the meeting and what the speakers said. Please note, however, that the article states that “…the clubhouse area is not part of the city’s appraisal or review.” The clubhouse area is included in the city’s appraisal.
In order to help convince the city to purchase all of the golf course property, we are currently doing a petition drive in northwest Houston.

"IFCIA (Inwood Forest Community Improvement Association) won the lawsuit against IFC (Inwood Forest Partners)" This is at least one HUGE step in the right direction! Now hopefully they will sell to the city!!!
