I just recently moved to Houston from LA and am desperately searching for a cute coffeeshop and speakeasy type bars where the locals roam to. I've discovered Catalina Coffee on Washington Ave. and I love that place, just south of the 10. As for the speakeasy type bars, haven't found any. Any suggestions?

Nice little bar proximate to the coffee shop...I wont name as it attracts a small mellow crowd compared to the many nightclubbing D-bag places nearby.

Only takes a few frat boys to find out about it and then the whole bar changes. Kind of like an old haunt, the Front Porch Pub. As I get older I kind of like having a few places with a more mature vibe.

I told some folks about my favorite fishin hole once. The next time I went, the place was trashed. Pampers, broken beer bottles, you name it.---My Son told me years ago, when we were walking in the Park. "Dad, ya know how we can tell when we get close to where people have been??---we start seeing trash" From the mouths of babes.

Hey! I'm new here, and thinking of moving to the great nation of Texas. People tell me Houston is nice, but i've heard some bad/very strange things. What areas/burbs would yall recommend?

What part of town are you in? I would be willing to rent a room, if ya got the space. And i know it is Texas but no funny business, if ya know what i mean.
